  • Soft

Cons

  • Makes Donuts

    Comments about Rowan Drift:

I ordered this yarn to make a super bulky vest. The yarn that was recommended for the original project was way too expensive and I needed to find a substitution. I was so glad that a friend found this online for me, as it is the perfect weight and the price was within my budget. The available colors are really pretty too.

The only negative is that it tends to make "donuts" as I knit, but that is not a huge deal. Super happy with my purchase.

        Comments about Rowan Drift:

This was my first venture buying higher quality yarn. Unfortunately, it was a very expensive mistake.

I bought three balls of Fire to make a hood, as it was the designer's suggested yarn and color. It stained my bamboo needles. It stained my hands. It stained my fingernails. It stained the sleeves and front of my shirt.

As if that wasn't bad enough, I had to constantly pick out dry, rough (red!) grassy bits that were stuck to, in, and through the yarn.

The yarn itself had terribly inconsistent twists as well -- it went from a tightly twisted, barely bulky weight thickness to an almost completely untwisted roving-type thickness. Hard to maintain even stitches.

I rinsed the hood twice before soaking it in Eucalan and the water was blood-red each time -- and then the Eucalan water was quite red as well. I hope I'm never caught in the rain while wearing the hood I made. I will never use this yarn again and highly suggest you use something else.

Two stars rather than one because of the color. Although it stains and bleeds horribly, it is incredibly beautiful.
