Product Details

Rowan Softyak DK is a blend of yak, cotton, and nylon that has the best of all worlds: the softness of cotton combined with durability of nylon and warmth of yak. The darker yak fibers add a beautiful heathered tone to the dyed cotton and create a stunning yarn that has the added bonus of being machine-washable. Choose Softyak DK for accessories and garments you can wear throughout the year as well as for home décor items like pillows and blankets.

A blend of cotton and yak, this yarn is gorgeous. It feels great in the hand and has a quiet luster. It should be drapey but hold its shape when knit up. I’m using it to make Brandon Mably’s Don’t Make Me Cross jacket, which involves intarsia, and so far so good. I will have a high quality piece when finished. The ball band says 22 sts/4 in on a 4 mm needle, but I had to go to a 3.75 to get that gauge. Not a big deal.
