What Is Being Made

The Berroco Abi is a women's knit sweater designed by the Berroco Design Team. This intermediate-level pullover is available in six sizes ranging from X-Small through 2X, with finished bust measurements from 32 inches to 52 inches and finished lengths from 27½ inches to 30 inches. The sweater is shown in the Patina colorway of Berroco Remix yarn.

Construction Methods and Techniques

The Abi sweater is constructed using a bottom-up approach, meaning the body and sleeves are knitted starting from the lower edges and working upward toward the shoulders. The garment is worked flat on straight needles for the body and sleeves, then assembled using seaming to join the pieces together. Select sections are worked in the round using circular needles, providing versatility in construction methods throughout the project.

Cable knitting is featured prominently in the design, adding visual texture and interest to the finished sweater. The cable work is charted, requiring knitters to follow a stitch chart while working over the patterned sections. A cable needle is essential for manipulating stitches to create the cable effects.
