Product Description
Berroco Linus™ Knit Patterns Collection
Berroco Linus™ is a uniquely constructed linen blend yarn designed for knitting projects that showcase beautiful stitch definition. Dyed with saturated tones and cool off-whites, this yarn features a distinctive crepe texture that becomes even more lovely with wear and washing. The collection includes five distinct knit designs: Parrotfish, Harbour, Yuma, Samana, and Tillo.
Yarn Composition and Specifications
Berroco Linus™ is composed of 50% Acrylic, 20% Linen, 18% Nylon, and 12% Rayon, creating a sophisticated blend that combines the durability of acrylic and nylon with the natural breathability of linen and rayon. Each ball weighs 1.75 oz (50g) and features a gauge of 4.75 stitches per inch on US 8 (5.0 mm) needles, with a standard gauge measurement of 19 stitches and 23 rows over 4 inches (10cm).
Care Instructions
Berroco Linus™ projects are designed for easy maintenance and everyday wear. Finished garments are machine washable and should be laid flat to dry to maintain their shape and texture.
Knitting Techniques and Stitches
These intermediate-level knit patterns employ several fundamental knitting techniques to create their distinctive finished appearance:
- Decreases: Patterns utilize both knit two together (k2tog) and slip, slip, knit (SSK) decreases for shaping and stitch reduction
- Yarn overs (yo): Incorporated to create decorative increases and lace-like details within the stitch patterns
- Stitch markers: Used throughout to maintain pattern sections and track shaping points
- Pattern work: Designs feature established stitch patterns that are maintained across multiple rows and sections
- Circular needles: Patterns are worked on circular needles, allowing for seamless construction and easy stitch management
- Binding off: Strategic bind-offs create defined edges and shape transitions within the garments
Design Credits
These patterns were created by the Berroco Design Team, including designers Norah Gaughan and Emily Nora O'Neil, with technical editing by Brenda York and instruction coordination by Martha Wissing.
