What Is Being Made

The vest is designed with 6–10" of positive ease, making it a comfortable, relaxed-fitting layering piece. The pattern includes a collar detail and is shown in a finished bust measurement of 40".

Techniques Used

The Bearberry vest employs several key knitting techniques that make it an excellent project for intermediate knitters:

Stitches Used

This fundamental stitch is worked over circular needles to build the vest's body and is the basis for the gauge measurement of 20 stitches and 28 rounds per 4 inches on the larger needle.

Materials and Tools

The Bearberry vest is designed to be knit with Berroco Tuscan Tweed yarn in the colorway #9063 Columbine. Yardage requirements range from 8 to 12 balls (50 grams each), depending on the size selected. The pattern calls for two sets of circular knitting needles: 16" and 29" length needles in size 7 (4.50 mm) for the main fabric, and matching needle sizes in size 6 (4.00 mm) for edging work. Additional supplies include two stitch markers in different colors for tracking pattern repeats and shaping points, and waste yarn for holding stitches during construction.
