What is Being Made

Construction Method

The Danvers sweater is worked flat in separate pieces that are later seamed together. The garment is constructed from the bottom up, with the back and front pieces knit individually on flat needles before assembly. Shoulders are shaped using short-row shaping to create a tailored fit at the neckline.

Materials

The Danvers sweater is knit using Berroco Ultra Wool Fine yarn in the colorway Frost (#53108). Yardage requirements range from 2 balls (100 grams each) for the smallest size to 5 balls for the largest sizes. The pattern calls for two sizes of needles: size 4 (3.50 mm) circular needles measuring 29 inches for the ribbed sections and a 16-inch needle for smaller circumferences, and size 6 (4.00 mm) circular needles for the charted lace pattern. A spare size 6 needle, waste yarn for holding stitches, and one stitch marker are also required.

Gauge

The pattern is worked to a gauge of 21 stitches and 30 rows over 4 inches in the charted lace pattern on the larger needles. Achieving proper gauge is essential for accurate finished measurements.
