This has become my "go to" yarn. I've used it for everything from fair isle mittens, to hats, scarves, and sweaters. It is beautifully soft, with a lovely halo. The weight is more like a DK than worsted and seems to work best for me when using size 4.5mm needles. Currently working on a cardigan for me and I'm loving it. It's not just about the finished garment, but the joy of knitting each stitch.

Yes, it feels beautifully soft and it crochets up very nicely but the fo ends up looking like you spend your free time volunteering at the dog shelter.

I made gloves with this and for real, they look like I've been petting a heavily shedding cat. The more I wear them, the worse it gets.

I wouldn't buy it again. It's too bad when you really love the look and feel of a yarn only to have your fo look ratty at the end.

Comments about 12.00 Ultra Alpaca:

I am using this yarn to make a sweater for a client. He asked for an alpaca sweater and I suggested that he have a blend of wool for stability. Alpaca is characteristically soft but this yarn seems to be a bit coarse. I am hoping that it will soften when washing.

Very nice choice for Aran knitting, especially for very warm sweaters if you use a smallish needle, like 5.

Although I feel profoundly guilty purchasing yarn that isn't from my LYS, it is wonderful to have what you need, in the proper dye lot. No longer must I compromise a project with a yarn that I'm not all excited about because the store was 1 skein short.
The service at Webs is outstanding, as well.

Was looking for a specific color and yarns of other colors to work with it. Loved the feel of this alpaca blend and was happy to find it in so many colors.

These two skeins of light and dark teal will be used in a small shawl. The colors are so beautiful and the texture is soft.

              Comments about 12.00 Ultra Alpaca:

It is a beautiful colour and knits up nicely, and stitch definition is great. However it bled when I washed it, I rinsed it three times and it still bled. It is scratchy. I will have to wear a long sleeved, high necked top when I wear the vest I made the yarn from.

I'm making an afghan and we picked this color out of many greens. I think it will be ombre but I'm just getting started.
