I like the softness and the subtle mix of color. It is wonderful to knit with. I am using it for a blanket for a new grandchild.
The main problem is it’s not chunky. It’s basically the weight of worsted or what worse it used to be. When I buy Valley Chunky, it’s really heavyweight and chunky, but Berroco is not. I realize that all the weights are lighter now and nothing is like it used to be when you buy yarn, but when you call it an ultra chunky, it should’ve been heavier. Of course, I had to recalculate my stitches per inch and I didn’t get the look I was intending with a bulky yarn. It looked like worsted weight.
I like the softness of Alpaca, and finding it is chunky made my day. I use it for cat matt.
I really like this wool. Washes up beautifully. Easy to knit with. Made a hooded cardigan for granddaughter. It came out well worked to gauge. It is a little heavy. But good for winter. I would buy again
Sill knitting, - soft yarn nice to knit with, Lightweight even though it is a Chunky weight, I selected a nice color, a little fuzzy, but that is expected with Alpaca. The yarn is 50% Super Fine Alpaca and 50% Peruvian Wool. Knitting a pattern that recommends using Berroco Ultra Alpaca Chunky. This will be soft, lightweight, warm, and cozy, giving it as a gift to my cousin.
Perfect yarn. Used to knit McKenna fingerless mittens from Berroco.
I haven’t crocheted with it yet nut am impressed by the quality of the yarn. Soft not “fuzzy “ strands and great color. I am tempted to start a new project but need to finish what I have started!
This yarn is perfect for warm mittens. My only regret is that it is not machine washable. But that is the nature of the beast. Sometimes you have to make allowances to keep your fingers warm. I will definitely buy it again.
If you’re looking for warm, this is it. Nice to work with, produces a thick, heavy garment.
Very soft and a dream to knit up.
