I've used some of the Cascade ReFine that I purchased as a sock yarn. Overall, I'm happy with the product but it feels a bit more fine than the sock yarn that I am used to using. I don't know if it is or not, but it feels thinner. I found if I put too much tension on it, it may break. Also, it feels a bit harsh to the touch. It's not bad but I wouldn't use it for something close to delicate skin like a child's face or neck. It may feel scratchy. Feet? Go for it. In the photo, I used 2 strands of a blue ReFine for the ribbing.
ReFine is ok for my current project, but I would not recommend it for most knitting. It is very rough and quite weak. I am making a small bear that will primarily be sitting on a shelf so softness and durability aren’t very important. It is fine (thin sock weight) and came in the color I needed. I bought more than I need but I plan to keep it since I often make small scale toys. It definitely won’t be good for socks or other garments.
Some of the reviews had said the yarn was scratchy. Maybe Cascade upgraded, but mine was quite soft, non-splitting, gorgeous color. and as I needed quite a lot for this project, I was happy to have 503 yd. balls, up from the usual 400 yds on most sock yarn.
This yarn is extremely weak. The fibers are very short. Including nyon in no way made the yarn strong. I had no idea I was buying yarn from recycled materials. I cannot imagine how anyone thought it was ok to sell such a poor product. A person's time is too valuable to waste knitting with this yarn.
Yarn color not as shown on line and webs is not helping with return postge
