Debbie Bliss Cable Sweater
What Is Being Made
The Debbie Bliss Cable Sweater is a classic knitted pullover design from the Bella collection by renowned designer Debbie Bliss. This sweater features prominent cable knit detailing as its signature design element, making it an ideal project for knitters seeking to incorporate traditional texture and visual interest into a wearable garment.
Knitting Techniques
This pattern employs fundamental sweater construction techniques suitable for intermediate knitters. The design incorporates cable knitting as its primary decorative technique, which requires careful stitch manipulation to create the characteristic twisted rope-like texture that defines cable work. The sweater is constructed using standard garment shaping methods to achieve proper fit and silhouette.
Stitches Used
The Cable Sweater pattern utilizes cable stitches as the focal point of the design. Cable stitches are created by crossing groups of stitches over one another, typically using a cable needle to temporarily hold stitches while working subsequent stitches. This creates the distinctive raised, twisted pattern that gives cable knit garments their dimensional appearance and textural appeal. The pattern likely incorporates stockinette stitch as a base or complementary stitch to frame and highlight the cable work.
Materials and Tools
Knitters will need yarn appropriate for sweater-weight projects and knitting needles sized according to the pattern gauge specifications. The pattern includes detailed measurements and gauge guidelines to ensure proper fit and finished dimensions. A cable needle is essential for executing the cable stitch techniques featured throughout the design.
Note: This pattern is intended for personal use only and is published by Knitting Fever, Inc. (KFI). Measurements, gauge, and other specifications are provided as guidelines for achieving the intended finished garment.
