Construction and Techniques

The Eiddwen Cape is worked entirely with two strands of yarn held together throughout the project. The cape is constructed in three distinct sections, with the two front panels worked straight with folded lower edges that create functional pockets. The front sections are then shaped at the top to match the back panel, ensuring proper fit and a cohesive silhouette.

The back section begins with a cast-on of 265 stitches worked flat (not joined in the round). The pattern incorporates strategic decreases worked at marked intervals to shape the cape. The construction uses stitch markers to track decrease locations, with six stitch markers required throughout the project. A stitch holder is also needed to manage stitches during assembly.

Stitches and Stitch Patterns

The Eiddwen Cape features a classic ribbed stitch pattern as its primary design element. The Eiddwen Cape requires 10 balls each of Berroco Andean Mist yarn in two colorways: #6334 Sajama (A) and #6386 Azul Profundo (B). Berroco Andean Mist is a 25-gram ball weight yarn. The two colors are held together as one strand throughout the entire project, creating a blended colorway in the finished cape.

Knitting tools needed include a 36-inch circular knitting needle in size 7 (4.50 mm) or the size required to obtain proper gauge. Additional notions include six stitch markers and one stitch holder for managing stitches during construction.
