“Elphaba” is the name given by author Gregory Maguire to a character also known as The Wicked Witch of the West. Was Elphaba really a bad witch, or was she a casualty of the Wizard’s political spin? Maguire’s book Wicked explores the theme of shadow & light as well as the gray areas in life that many a witch, wicked or good, is confronted with.
