Blended with cotton and modal, Elsebeth Lavold Hempathy is a slightly textured yarn that is a WEBS favorite. Hemp is an incredible plant fiber that is valued for its strength and durability. It won’t wear out—instead, it will wear in—getting better with age. It will retain color better than any other fiber, including cotton, due to its porous nature which also allows the fiber to breathe.

Have made a couple of top-down summer sweaters with this lovely drapey yarn: Heliotropic Pullover by Mercedes Tarasovich-Clark and Buttercup by Heidi Kirrmaier. Lovely yarn for both patterns. Knits quickly and the resulting drape is hard to beat. Only con would be repeated knots per skein. Didn't experience that in every skein, but the last four of the 16 skeins purchased.

Not DK weight!

This yarn is beautiful, but listed as dk weight on the site... It is not DK weight, but lace or fingering weight instead! Otherwise it is strong and beautifully made!

Tried to use this to make a hat. Yarn is very splitty, twists up on itself, and feels coarse, like knitting with packaging twine. Not something I enjoyed working with at all!

I've purchased Hempathy several times, once for myself and then for others. This yarn makes perfect dish cloths . Lighter weight, serviceable , hold their color, so the job. Perfect. I hear great feedback from the gifts.

              Comments about ELSEBETH LAVOLD Hempathy:

I think I originally ordered this product during the annual sale because I liked the colors. This year I have gone back to order it at full price. I have been using it singly & doubly with different size hooks (D, E, F) -- all to good effect. The poncho drapes nicely but the best use may be for dishcloths because there is a slight roughness to the texture. Not sure I would like it for a scarf or cowl, maybe for a sweater or top.

                Comments about ELSEBETH LAVOLD Hempathy:

Product recommends a size 4 needle, but I used it with a size 6 for a lightweight sleeveless sweater ("A Slice of Linen"), and it is lovely. I haven't finished my garment, so have not washed or worn this as yet, but right now it has a lovely, soft, somewhat drapey feel. I would definitely use this yarn again, especially for a lightweight wrap or scarf.

Lived up to my expectations, based on comments made by others who have knit frequently with Hempathy. I had to purchase skeins from 2 sellers to get the quantity I needed; amazingly, they all matched perfectly, although from 2 dye lots.

I love crocheting with this yarn. It's nice to hold, keeps its shape, doesn't shed very bad and has beautiful rich colors. I use it to make wash cloths and it washes/wears nicely.

The yarn is very dry and feels a bit like knitting with kitchen twine. Once knit, however, and machine washed, this is soft and light. Perfect for summer sweaters. Nice drape on a size 4 (3.5 mm) needle. I can wear Hempathy when it is too hot for wool.
