Blended with cotton and modal, Elsebeth Lavold Hempathy is a slightly textured yarn that is a WEBS favorite. Hemp is an incredible plant fiber that is valued for its strength and durability. It won’t wear out—instead, it will wear in—getting better with age. It will retain color better than any other fiber, including cotton, due to its porous nature which also allows the fiber to breathe.

Have made a couple of top-down summer sweaters with this lovely drapey yarn: Heliotropic Pullover by Mercedes Tarasovich-Clark and Buttercup by Heidi Kirrmaier. Lovely yarn for both patterns. Knits quickly and the resulting drape is hard to beat. Only con would be repeated knots per skein. Didn't experience that in every skein, but the last four of the 16 skeins purchased.

I purchased this yarn to make Heidi Kirrmaier's pattern 'After the Rain,' a casual striped summer sweater. The colors are clear and true to the display, and Webs' service was, as usual, excellent. I was a bit put off by the feel of the yarn which felt a little rough and ropy as I knitted, but my swatch washed up well and softened. I also felt it had the drape I wanted for this casual piece. However, I am NOT PLEASED by the knots (by which I mean breaks in the yarn that were simply tied together) found in each of the 4 balls I have knit so far. One ball had both two knots and a frayed section. The put up of this yarn is only 50 grams/153 yd and to have knots in each of the balls is inexcusable and unacceptable. I will be contacting the manufacturer regarding quality control once I have finished the garment and determined if all the balls had knots. Recommended with reservations.

Comments about ELSEBETH LAVOLD Hempathy:

I think this is my 3rd purchase of this wonderful yarn which I use for dishcloths and also a bath scrubber. Much easier to use than 100% hemp. Also love the colors achieved.

I Am in Love

Comments about ELSEBETH LAVOLD Hempathy:

I am in love with this yarn. I live in FL and I just can't use wool, and I need lighter weight yarns with a durable, wearable feeling for the lace garments I make. This yarn answers my need. The colors are great. The weight is perfect for lace. The finished product is natural looking and has a very quality look and feeling about it. I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever use any other yarn.

Comments about ELSEBETH LAVOLD Hempathy:

Just doing a sample swatch. Yarn is very nice to work with. For my knitting it looks like using a 3.5mm or 3.75mm needles gives me the best gauge.

Comments about ELSEBETH LAVOLD Hempathy:

I was so pleased to find this yarn at Webs. It is a very nice blend of fibers that is perfect for warm weather. It works up into a very drapable fabric with a pleasing hand. I am knitting a short sleeved, collared blouse with it.

Comments about ELSEBETH LAVOLD Hempathy:

Used this yarn to make the whippet cardigan on ravelry. The yarn has a crisp finish with a nice drape. It does not change size in blocking, but it does soften. The yarn colour was true to the picture. I will use it again.
