Very Satisfying Yarn

By agmom98

from Houston, TX

Pros

  • Machine dryable
  • Machine washable
  • Rich Colors
  • Soft
  • Strong
  • True Bulky Weight

Cons

    Best Uses

    • Blankets
    • Sweaters

I knit a pullover sweater for my daughter-in-law using a pattern I'd already knitted twice for myself. This yarn is a true bulky-weight yarn as evidenced by my getting the correct gauge on the specified needles, exactly as I had with a different brand of bulky yarn. The yarn is easy to work with, doesn't split, and came off the skeins with no snags, no loose threads, no random joins, and no color uniformity or bleeding issues. It made a very soft, cuddly sweater for someone who cannot wear wool. Before giving the sweater to her, I threw it in the washing machine with a light-color load and dried it in the dryer. The sweater came out of the dry looking fantastic, with no wrinkles, no snags, and not needing any blocking whatsoever. I wouldn't hesitate to use this yarn again in another project calling for bulky-weight yarn.

    updating my original review

    By Pink Bunny Ears

    Pros

    • Affordable
    • Soft

    Cons

    • Inconsistent Thickness
    • Knots
    • Stains

    Best Uses

I left my first review after making my first baby blanket with this yarn. Now I am almost done with blanket #3 and I wouldn't use this yarn again. The darker colored yarn stained my wooden needles a lot. I have found knots and lengths that were too damaged (split, tangled, and/or rough)to use. I have also found dark stains on spots in one of the skeins. This yarn quality is pretty hit or miss.

very soft, but not really bulky

This yarn is very soft. I made baby blankets with it. I chose it because it was a cotton blend that was machine washable and could be tumbled dry. It isn't really a very bulky yarn though, which means I needed to buy more to finish. It is more of a very heavy worsted yarn or a light chunky at best. I would still use this again.
