The jumper features a structured construction with shaped shoulders, a fitted neckline, and a classic pullover silhouette suitable for everyday wear.

Techniques Used

The Granite Jumper employs several key knitting techniques to achieve its finished design. Cable crossing is a primary decorative element, executed using a cable needle to create textured pattern work throughout the garment. The pattern includes shaping techniques such as decreasing at the neck edge over multiple rows to create a contoured neckline, and strategic shoulder shaping achieved through casting off stitches at regular intervals. The construction method involves working the back and front pieces separately, with stitch holders used to preserve stitches for the neckband. Reverse shaping on the front ensures symmetrical shoulder construction, while the neckband is worked from held stitches to create a finished edge.

Stitches Used

The pattern utilizes specialized cable stitches as core design elements. Cr2L (Cross 2 Left) is executed by slipping one stitch onto a cable needle, holding it to the front of the work, purling the next stitch, then knitting the stitch from the cable needle. Cr2R (Cross 2 Right) follows the reverse principle: slipping one stitch onto a cable needle, holding it to the back, knitting the next stitch, then purling from the cable needle. The tension is established at 14 stitches and 21 rows to 10 centimeters when measured over pattern using the 7mm needles, providing a guide for achieving the correct finished garment dimensions.
