The hat is worked in two colorways and features a tapered crown that decreases to a gathered top, making it suitable for a variety of head sizes with stretch.

Finished Measurements

The hat is available in two sizes. The smaller size has a circumference of 17"/43cm that stretches to fit 19¾"/50cm, with a height of 9"/23cm. The larger size offers a circumference of 18"/45.5cm that stretches to fit 22"/56cm, with a height of 10"/25.5cm.

Techniques Used

Materials and Gauge

The Giselle Mosaic Hat is knit with Juniper Moon Farm La Pampa yarn, a 100-gram hank weight. Two colors are required: one hank in color 115 Ocean (A) and one hank in color 106 Ivory (B). The design calls for US 10½/6.5mm circular needles (16"/40cm long) and US 10½/6.5mm double-pointed needles for working the decreases when stitches become too few for the circular needle. Pattern Overview

The body is then worked in the 4-round slip stitch mosaic pattern until the piece reaches approximately 8 or 9 inches in height. The crown shaping begins with decreases worked every round, reducing stitches from 68 or 72 down to just 6 stitches over multiple decrease rounds. The yarn is cut and threaded through the remaining stitches to close the top of the hat.
