They are smooth with smooth points. Plus, I love the colors. I'm using them for the ribbing on my sweater sleeves. I will use them for socks too. I prefer long DPNs for knitting socks so the stitches don't fall off.

I bought Knit Pro Dreamz 8" DP's especially for the sleeves on a sweater I'm knitting for my BFF's birthday. These needles are not only pretty to look at, they're comfortable, thanks to tips that aren't too pointy or too blunt, and smooth without being slippery -- the thing that drives anybody using DP's nuts (no more clanging on the floor of a metal DP that slipped out of the stitches when you weren't paying attention!).
