Techniques Used

The Lana Grossa Top employs several key knitting techniques to achieve its refined construction. The garment is worked flat on straight needles, meaning pieces are knitted in flat panels rather than in the round, which allows for easier pattern management and shaping. The pieces are then seamed together to create the finished garment. Lace work is incorporated through a charted lace panel that creates an openwork design element. Materials

The Lana Grossa Top is knitted using Lana Grossa Organico, a yarn composed of 100% organic cotton. Yardage requirements are 450 grams (approximately 900 meters) for the smaller size range and 550 grams (approximately 1,100 meters) for the larger size range. The yarn is worked at a gauge that calls for size 4.5 mm knitting needles for the main fabric and a size 4.5 mm circular needle measuring 60 centimeters long, which is used for working certain sections. The sample shown was knitted in Green (color 129), though the pattern is suitable for other colorways in the Organico line.
