Lang Long Sweater (LANGYARNS KYLIE)

What is Being Made

The Lang Long Sweater is a knitted pullover garment designed as a versatile layering piece. This sweater features a classic silhouette with extended length and is available in multiple sizes, ranging from smaller to larger proportions. The design is suitable for everyday wear and offers a contemporary aesthetic with refined construction details.

Construction Method

This sweater is worked flat using a bottom-up construction approach, meaning the knitter begins at the lower edge and works upward toward the shoulders and neckline. The garment pieces are seamed together after individual sections are completed, creating clean, structured seams that contribute to the sweater's finished appearance and durability.

Techniques and Stitches

The Lang Long Sweater incorporates lace as a primary design element, adding visual interest and texture throughout the garment. The lace pattern is created using several fundamental knitting techniques:

  • Yarn overs (yo) – deliberate increases that create the openwork characteristic of lace
  • Purl two together (p2tog) – a decrease stitch that pairs with yarn overs to maintain stitch count
  • Knit and purl stitches – the foundational stitches that form the base fabric and create textural contrast
  • Dropped yarn overs and replacement techniques – advanced lace methods where previous row yarn overs are intentionally dropped and replaced with new yarn overs in subsequent rows, creating sophisticated lace motifs

The lace pattern operates on a 9-stitch repeat, allowing for consistent, symmetrical patterning across the sweater body. This repeat structure makes the pattern both manageable for knitters and visually balanced in the finished garment.

Materials

This pattern is designed to be worked with yarn and needles appropriate to the Lang Yarns brand specifications. The exact yarn weight, yardage requirements, and recommended needle size are detailed within the downloadable PDF pattern document provided by Lang & Co. AG.

The Lang Long Sweater is available as a downloadable PDF pattern, making it accessible for immediate use.
