Lang PTO30-11 Cardigan: Knitted Cable Design

What Is Being Made

The Lang PTO30-11 Frida is a knitted cardigan featuring decorative cable patterns throughout. This garment is designed as a classic cardigan with structured shaping and is available in multiple sizes, making it suitable for various body measurements.

Construction Method

This cardigan is worked flat on needles and constructed using the bottom-up technique, meaning the knitter begins at the lower edge and works upward toward the shoulders and neckline. Once all pieces are completed, they are seamed together to create the finished garment.

Cable Techniques and Stitches

The pattern incorporates cable stitches as a primary design element. The cable work involves using a cable needle to create twisted rope-like textures. Specific cable techniques include:

  • Cables worked by placing stitches on a cable needle at the back of the work, then knitting subsequent stitches before working the held stitches
  • Cables worked by placing stitches on a cable needle at the front of the work, then knitting the next stitch with increases, followed by working the held stitches
  • Cables that incorporate yarn overs (increases) to add decorative eyelet details within the cable structure, creating 8-stitch cable patterns
  • Standard knit and purl stitches forming the base fabric and definition around cable motifs

Pattern Sizing and Measurements

The pattern includes multiple size options with measurements provided in metric centimeters. Finished garment dimensions range across different size categories, allowing knitters to select the appropriate size based on desired fit and body measurements.

Materials Required

This pattern is designed for use with Lang Yarns products. Knitters will need appropriately sized needles for working flat knitting, as well as a cable needle for executing the cable stitch techniques throughout the design.

Pattern Format

The Lang PTO30-11 is provided as a downloadable PDF from Lang Yarns' pattern shop, making it accessible for digital reference during the knitting process.
