Malabrigo Rasta is a 100% merino super bulky, kettle-dyed by hand in Uruguay. One 150 g skein holds 90 yds (82 m) and knits to 10 stitches over 4" on US 13 (9 mm) needles — recommended crochet hook M (9 mm). The thickness varies slightly along the strand, which is characteristic of the hand-spun, hand-dyed process and part of what gives finished pieces their depth.
Dye lots: Rasta is produced in dye lots of 5 skeins, and any order for more than 5 will arrive in mixed lots — some shades have no lots at all. Buy everything you need for a project in one order, and when you're working from more than one skein, alternate two rows from each to blend them. Hand-dyed colors vary from skein to skein and can look different in photographs than in your hands; if you're matching to something, contact Customer Service before you order.
Rated 4.9 stars by 130+ knitters at WEBS — one of the highest-rated yarns we carry. Reviewers reach for it for hats, cowls, scarves, mittens and quick sweaters, and a steady group of them buy it specifically for felting, where the merino fulls densely and evenly. Weavers use it too. The words that come up over and over are soft, squishy, warm and vibrant, and several people note how fast it works up on big needles.
