Product Description
MillaMia Susanna Cable Jumper is a gorgeous women’s pullover

MillaMia Susanna Cable Jumper
What is Being Made
The MillaMia Susanna Cable Jumper is an advanced-level knitted sweater featuring a striking cable design on the front. This garment is available in seven different sizes, ranging from 76–81cm to 137–142cm chest measurements, making it suitable for a wide range of body types. The finished jumper offers a classic, sophisticated silhouette with sleeve lengths of 44cm and body lengths varying from 57cm to 66cm depending on the size selected.
Techniques Used
This jumper is constructed using worked flat knitting technique, meaning the pieces are knitted in flat panels rather than in the round. The garment is then seamed together to create the finished sweater. The cable work is the focal point of the design, requiring advanced technical skill to execute properly. The pattern includes helpful guidance on alternating between working on the front cable panel and the back and sleeves, allowing knitters to manage the project in a logical sequence.
Stitches Used
The pattern employs several key stitches to create its distinctive appearance:
- Stocking stitch (stockinette stitch in US terminology) forms the foundation of the back and sleeves, providing a smooth, classic knitted fabric
- Cable stitches are the signature feature, including C4B (cable 4 back), C4F (cable 4 front), C12B (cable 12 back), and C12F (cable 12 front). These cables are created by slipping stitches onto a cable needle, holding them to the front or back of the work, and then knitting across before returning to the held stitches
- Reverse stocking stitch (purl stitches) appears within the larger cable sequences to add textural contrast and definition to the cable panels
- Yarn overs (abbreviated as yf, yo, and yrn) are incorporated into the cable work to create subtle openwork details
Materials and Specifications
The Susanna Cable Jumper is designed to be knitted using MillaMia Naturally Soft Aran yarn, which is exclusively available at lovecrafts.com. Yarn quantities are approximate and based on average requirements, ranging from 12 balls (50g/1¾oz each) for the smallest size to 20 balls for the largest size. The primary colourway shown is Dusk, with additional colourway options available including Stone, Oat, Colourway 2, Colourway 3, Damson, and Cherry Red.
Two pairs of knitting needles are required: 4mm (US 6) needles and 5mm (US 8) needles. The 5mm needles are used for the main fabric, which should be worked to a tension of 18 stitches and 24 rows to 10cm/4in over stocking stitch. Achieving the correct tension is essential for obtaining the finished measurements specified in the pattern.
Design Features
The beautiful cable work on the front of the jumper is complemented by the simplicity of stocking stitch sleeves and back, creating a balanced design that showcases the intricate cablework without overwhelming the garment. This combination of a detailed front panel with simpler construction on other pieces makes the project manageable despite its advanced skill level, as knitters can focus their attention on the most technically demanding sections.
