What Is Being Made

The finished garment chest measurements range from 90 cm to 171.5 cm (35½ inches to 67½ inches), providing options for a close fit through to generous sizing.

Techniques Used

The Noemie Top employs several key knitting techniques suitable for knitters developing their skills. The pattern features wrap and turn shaping, a technique used to create the contoured hem of the garment. This method involves slipping stitches from the left needle to the right needle while bringing the yarn to the opposite side of the work between the needles, then slipping the same stitch back onto the left needle. When working back across wrapped stitches, the wrapped stitch and wrapping loop are worked together as a single stitch. This creates a smooth, shaped transition in the hem area over 30 rows. The body of the top is worked in stockinette stitch after the initial shaping rows, which creates a smooth, classic knit fabric with a distinctive V-pattern appearance on the right side.

Yarn quantities vary by size, ranging from 4 balls for the smallest size through to 7 balls for the largest sizes.

The pattern calls for 3mm (US 2/3) needles, which are appropriately sized for working with 4ply yarn. The recommended tension is 28 stitches and 36 rows to 10 centimeters measured over stockinette stitch using the specified 3mm needles, ensuring consistent sizing across all finished garments.
