Nordic Winter Blanket

There can be nothing nicer than a new Winter blanket, whether it’s the excitement of ordering the yarn ready to make it, watching it take shape as you work on it or then cosying up under it in the chilly Winter months.

The blanket is worked in alternate strips of dc with snow bobbles and strips of bobblette stitch, a simple stitch that gives a lovely textured effect (UK terms) . The Nordic motifs are made separately and stitched on to the finished blanket afterwards, each being decorated with simple embroidery stitches.

I used PAINTBOX WOOL MIX ARAN but PAINTBOX SIMPLY ARAN will work equally as well and be more economical cost wise. The snow bobbles are worked in a sportweight yarn and all of the motifs are crocheted in YARN AND COLORS Must Haves, a 4 ply cotton that works up to give the pieces beautifully clear definition. The blanket is finished with a simple dc border which both frames and adds weight to the completed blanket.
