Product Description

Graceful lines define Noro 1408 Offset Cable Tee. Mesh patterning, embellished with an eight-stitch cable, complements the soft tonality of Akari. Short rows form the high/low hems, which is left unfinished. This women’s pullover is knit flat from the bottom up in pieces. The rib neckband and armbands are picked up and knit after the pieces are seamed. Akari is a gorgeous lightweight blend that's perfect for bringing Noro to warm-weather projects. Cotton and silk will create sweaters and shawls that are breezy with a magnificent drape while the tonal colors fade gracefully throughout the fabric. The lace and cable patterns are in written form only.

Noro Offset Cable Tee

What is Being Made

The Noro Offset Cable Tee is an experienced-level knitted sweater designed for a close-fitting pullover silhouette. This garment is sized for Small (Medium, Large) with finished bust measurements of 33½ (39, 44½) inches / 85 (99, 113) centimeters. The tee features a longer back length of 23¼ (23¾, 24¼) inches / 59 (60, 61.5) centimeters and a front length of 25¼ (25¾, 26¼) inches / 64 (65.5, 66.5) centimeters, creating an asymmetrical hemline. Upper arm circumference measures 12 (13, 14) inches / 30.5 (33, 35.5) centimeters.

Techniques Used

This sweater is constructed using bottom-up construction, meaning pieces are knitted from the lower edges upward toward the shoulders and neckline. The garment is worked flat on straight needles rather than in the round, and pieces are seamed together at the sides and shoulders for a finished appearance. The design incorporates cable work as a primary decorative element, combined with lace patterning to create visual interest and texture throughout the piece.

Stitches and Stitch Techniques

The pattern employs a variety of fundamental and intermediate knitting stitches and techniques. Knit and purl stitches form the foundation of the fabric, worked both knitwise and purlwise as directed by the pattern instructions. Cable stitches are created by crossing groups of stitches over one another to form twisted rope-like textures, with the offset design suggesting asymmetrical cable placement. Lace stitches are incorporated through yarn overs and decreases to create openwork sections.

Shaping is achieved through increases (such as knit in front and back of stitch, or make one variations) and decreases (including knit 2 together and purl 2 together methods). The pattern uses slip, slip, knit (or slip, slip, purl) techniques for refined decreases. Selvage stitches are worked at the edges to facilitate seaming. Stitch markers help track pattern repeats and shaping points, while pick up and knit techniques are used to add stitches along finished edges for neckline or trim finishing.

Materials

The Noro Offset Cable Tee requires 2 (3, 3) x 200-gram balls of Noro Akari in colorway #09, providing approximately 400 to 600 grams of yarn depending on size. Needles include one pair of size US 8 / 5mm straight needles (or the size needed to obtain the specified gauge), one size US 7 / 4.5mm circular needle measuring 16 inches / 40 centimeters, and one size US 8 / 5mm circular needle measuring 24 inches / 60 centimeters. The smaller needle size is typically used for ribbed edgings or fitted sections, while the larger needles accommodate the main fabric gauge.
