Product Description

Noro Peach Blossom is a gorgeous oversized women’s pullover in an all-over lace pattern that keeps this garment light knit in Akari. The sweater features a deep v-neck, dropped shoulders, and three-quarter ribbed sleeves. Peach Blossom is knit flat in pieces from the bottom up and then seamed. The neckband stitches are picked up along the neck edge and worked in the round. Akari is a gorgeous lightweight blend perfect for bringing Noro to warm-weather projects. Cotton and silk will create breezy sweaters and shawls with a magnificent drape while the tonal colors fade gracefully throughout the fabric. The lace pattern is in written form only.

Noro Peach Blossom Oversized Pullover

What is Being Made

The Noro Peach Blossom is an oversized pullover sweater designed as an intermediate-level knitting project. This garment is sized for Small/Large, X-Large/2X-Large, and 3X-Large/4X-Large, with finished bust measurements of 68 (72, 76) inches and a length of 26 (26½, 27) inches. The pullover features a relaxed, oversized fit suitable for layering and casual wear.

Techniques Used

The Peach Blossom Oversized Pullover is constructed using several key knitting techniques:

  • Bottom-up construction: The sweater is worked from the bottom edge upward, allowing for easier fit adjustments and a more intuitive building process.
  • Worked flat: Pieces are knitted flat on circular needles rather than in the round, then seamed together for a finished garment.
  • Seamed construction: Individual pieces are joined using seaming techniques, with selvage stitches incorporated along edges to facilitate clean, professional seaming.
  • Lace patterning: The design incorporates a repeating lace motif that adds visual interest and texture to the garment.

Stitches and Stitch Patterns

The Peach Blossom features a repeating lace pattern worked over a multiple of 2 stitches plus 1. The four-row lace pattern alternates between textured rows and purl rows:

  • Row 1 (Right Side): Knit 1, then repeat yarn over and knit 2 together across to the end of the row.
  • Row 2: Purl across.
  • Row 3: Slip, slip, knit (a centered decrease) alternating with yarn overs, ending with a knit stitch.
  • Row 4: Purl across.

The pattern also employs selvage stitches along edges to create clean, easy-to-seam selvages. Additional decrease techniques include slip, slip, knit (ssk) for left-leaning decreases and knit 2 together (k2tog) for right-leaning decreases, both essential for maintaining the lace pattern's symmetry.

Materials and Tools

The Noro Peach Blossom Oversized Pullover is worked in Noro Akari yarn, color #06, requiring 3 (4, 4) x 200-gram skeins depending on size. The project uses multiple sizes of US 7/4.5mm and US 8/5mm circular needles (24 inches long for the body) as well as US 6/4mm and US 7/4.5mm circular needles (16 inches long for ribbing and neckline work). Additional materials include stitch markers and stitch holders or spare circular needles for managing stitches during construction.

Gauge

The pattern is worked to a gauge of 16 stitches and 28 rows over 4 inches in the lace pattern using US 8/5mm needles. Achieving the correct gauge is essential for obtaining the finished measurements and proper drape of the lace pattern.
