Product Description
When challenged to design a gansey-style sweater, I couldn't resist. Having knit a couple of them before, I love the way everything is worked seamlessly. I tried to incorporate as many traditional techniques as I could, adding my own twist in spots.
The body is worked in the round from the bottom up, beginning with Channel Island Cast-On. Faux side seam stitches are included in the plain stockinette portion of the lower body and flow into underam gussets. After dividing the front and back, and placing the gusset stitches on hold, each half is worked straight to the shoulders, which are then joined using Three-Needle BO with a neck gusset added to help shape the neckline. Stitches for the sleeves are picked up along the armhole, and along with the underarm gussets, worked from the armhole down to the cuffs.
Worked in a sport weight yarn, this gansey is perfect for taking you from fall through early spring.
