Product Details
Push My Buttons is a scoopneck pullover that is worked from the top-down with set-in sleeves that are worked simultaneously with the upper bodice (a photo tutorial is included so that you can check your work as you go). Worn with slim pants and a pair of tall boots, the metal buttons give it a touch of attitude.
Stitches are cast on for the shoulders and upper back, and short rows are used to shape the shoulders and the back of the neck for a few rows. Next, stitches for the fronts are picked up and worked for a few rows as well. A small number of sts are picked up along the selvage edges that become that tops of the sleeve caps, and the entire garment is then worked in one piece. The photo tutorial provides step-by-step illustrations of the technique (adapted from Barbara Walker's original work in Knitting From the Top) and allows you to check your work as you go. The button plackets are faux (with no buttonholes to work), and are picked up and worked from the hem and sleeves once the bodice is completed. Add as many buttons as you like--a total of 15 buttons was used in sample knit, although depending on the type of buttons you choose, you may wish to play around with the number added.
