What is Being Made

The Rhodes is a pullover sweater designed by Quail Studio and published by MODE at Rowan. This knitted garment features a yoke construction with seamless shaping, available in nine sizes ranging from 71–76 cm (28–30 inches) to 152–157 cm (60–62 inches) chest measurement. The finished sweater offers actual chest measurements from 90 cm (35½ inches) to 170 cm (67 inches), accommodating a wide range of body types.

Knitting Techniques and Construction

The Rhodes employs a seamless yoke construction worked from the top down using circular needles. The pattern incorporates stitch increases strategically placed around the yoke to create shaping, with increases worked on both regular rounds and alternating rounds as the garment expands. The yoke features a charted stitch pattern that repeats over 28 rows, adding visual interest and texture to the upper body. Yarn and Materials

The Rhodes is designed to be knitted with Alpaca Wool yarn from the MODE at Rowan collection, a blend fiber that combines the softness of alpaca with the durability of wool. The pattern calls for three colors:

• Fawn 015 (Color A) – the main color, requiring 6 to 12 balls of 50 gm depending on size
• Walnut 016 (Color B) – an accent color, requiring 1 to 2 balls of 50 gm
• French 013 (Color C) – a secondary accent color, requiring 1 to 2 balls of 50 gm

The pattern specifies 3.75 mm (US 5) needles for all sections: double-pointed needles for the neckband and sleeves, and circular needles in three lengths (60 cm, 80 cm, and 100–120 cm) to accommodate the increasing stitch counts as the yoke expands and the body is worked. Additional notions include four stitch markers for tracking increase points and stitch holders for managing stitches during construction.
