Craft and Construction Method

This is a knitting project suitable for knitters with intermediate skill level. The pullover uses a combination of ribbed and stockinette stitch construction techniques. The body and sleeves are worked primarily in stockinette stitch, while ribbed sections provide structure and elasticity at key areas. The raglan shaping technique is employed to create seamless sleeve cap integration, with decreases worked strategically to achieve the proper fit and silhouette.

Yarn and Materials

The Rowan Amelia Pullover is worked in Brushed Fleece, a soft and textured yarn. Yarn quantities vary by size, ranging from 8 to 11 balls of 50-gram weight depending on the chosen size. The photographed sample is shown in the colorway Blue Grotto 272.

The pattern requires multiple needle sizes to accommodate different sections of the garment. Construction begins with 5mm (US 8) needles for the ribbed sections. The main body and sleeves are worked on 5½mm (US 9) needles, which are sized to achieve the specified tension of 14 stitches and 20 rows over 10 centimeters in stockinette stitch. For the collar, a 4½mm (US 7) circular needle is used, with additional circular needles in 5mm (US 8) and 5½mm (US 9) sizes available for alternative construction methods.

Finishing and Assembly

After completion of all pieces, the garment is pressed according to standard finishing guidelines. Raglan armhole seams are joined using either back stitch or mattress stitch, depending on crafter preference. The collar is picked up from held stitches across the sleeve caps and front neckline using the circular needle, creating a finished neckline edge.
