What is Being Made

Rowan Gry is a knitted sweater designed by Arne & Carlos. This garment is available in five sizes to fit bust measurements ranging from 81–86 cm (32–34 in) through to 122–127 cm (48–50 in), with actual finished bust measurements of 95, 106, 115, 126, and 135 cm respectively. The sweater is constructed using a bottom-up approach with stranded colorwork and is worked in the round for seamless construction.

Techniques Used

This pattern employs several key knitting techniques to create its finished design:

• Bottom-up construction: The sweater is knitted from the lower edge upward, allowing for easier fitting adjustments and a logical progression through the garment sections.

Stitches Used

The stranded colorwork technique requires working with two yarn colors simultaneously, carrying the unused color inside the fabric to create the pattern design. The tension is set at 22 stitches and 30 rounds to 10 cm measured over stockinette stitch using 4 mm needles, establishing the gauge for accurate sizing.

Materials: Yarn and Needles

Yarn: The pattern calls for Rowan Felted Tweed yarn in two colors. Yarn A (Iris 201) is the primary color, requiring 6, 6, 7, 8, or 8 balls of 50 gm depending on size. Yarn B (Alabaster 197) is used for the stranded colorwork accents, requiring 1 ball of 50 gm across all sizes.

Needles: Construction requires both circular needles and double-pointed needles in two sizes. A 3¼ mm (US 3) circular needle measuring no more than 80–120 cm long (depending on size) is used for ribbed sections and initial cast-on. A 4 mm (US 6) circular needle of the same length is used for the main body stockinette stitch. Additionally, sets of four double-pointed 3¼ mm (US 3) needles and 4 mm (US 6) needles are required for sleeve construction.
