Construction Techniques
The Stour cardigan employs bottom-up construction, meaning the garment is knitted starting from the lower edges and working upward toward the shoulders. All pattern pieces—back, left front, and right front—are worked flat on straight needles rather than in the round, and the finished pieces are then seamed together. This traditional method allows for precise shaping and a professional finish.
The pattern includes strategic shaping techniques such as increases at side seams to create a fitted silhouette and armhole and shoulder shaping to ensure proper fit and garment structure.
