What is Being Made

Sandpeep is a knitted sweater designed by Martin Storey for Rowan. The sweater features a structured design with cable panel detailing and is photographed in the Rockhopper colorway of Rowan Pebble Island yarn.

Knitting Techniques and Construction

The Sandpeep sweater employs several key knitting techniques to create its finished structure. The garment begins with a twisted rib foundation that measures 6 cm in length, providing elasticity and a neat edge. The body is constructed using stockinette stitch as the primary fabric, which creates a smooth, classic knit surface.

A prominent feature of this design is the cable panel, which measures 27.5 cm in width and contains 88 stitches. This cable work adds textural interest and visual depth to the sweater. The construction includes strategic decreasing throughout the body to achieve proper fit and shaping. Armhole shaping is incorporated, with the armhole depth varying by size from 23 cm to 33 cm depending on the chosen size.

Shoulder shaping is worked using the cast-off method, with multiple rows of decreases to create a properly fitted shoulder line.
