I've knitted both a scarf and a pair of socks with this yarn, and it is one of the most stimulating little skeins I've ever knitted in my life. The colors feel like Christmas in July, you keep waiting for the next one to appear. In the scarf, as much as I like it, it is coarse for my skin and will not be a good match for eczema prone people. And, like the previous reviewer commented, it does pill a bit. Regardless, I happen to like real wool feeling, and like the texture of this particular yarn, the only thing to fix would be to make a bit more eczema friendly.

While I love the color changes in this yarn, it is extremely fuzzy. I had to shave the socks after the first wear. While knitting the first pair of child size socksI came across a break in the yarn which when the fixed it, the color sequence changed. I tried to knit a second pair out of the yarn but came across another break and a complete change in color sequence. Since when doing stripes I stress about them matching I only got one pair of child size socks out of them. I Will Not buy this yarn again.

        Comments about Schoppel Wolle Zauberball:

Love the yarn though it is very tiny fingering weight. I'm making "virus shawls" and have to rethink handling when I pick it up to continue. In comparison to some other less expensive fingering weight yarn, this doesn't come out the best. I will try knitting with it to see how that goes.

          Comments about Schoppel Wolle Zauberball:

This is one of my favorite yarns. It's great for socks, but truly fabulous for crocheting a lightweight sweater. The yarn makes a delicate-looking crocheted sweater, which most yarns wouldn't do. The long color ways and color combinations make it interesting too.
It doesn't grow-like-crazy the way most superwash does either.

Yarn is lovely but the plies are not twisted so the yarn easily comes apart when knitting. I have to ensure I grab the whole stitch or it comes apart.

              Comments about Schoppel Wolle Zauberball:

I absolutely love the colors of my zauberballs, and it's been a joy to knit with. However, when I went to wash the yarn by hand in cold water (it's billed as superwash), it dropped dye and bled like crazy. To counteract this somewhat, I added a little white vinegar to the water (about 1 Tbsp), rinsed, and didn't continue to attempt to stain my sink. I'm not sure what I could have done to prevent this, other than unraveling the ball, washing it prior to knitting, waiting for it to dry or running it in the dryer on air dry / low in a dark or stained garment bag, and re-winding it into a ball.

It blocks lovely, but it does have that wet animal smell typical of most natural yarns, which isn't worth docking a star.
