The hat features a distinctive cable-knit brim band paired with a smooth stockinette stitch body, making it both visually interesting and comfortable to wear.

Techniques Used

The Skylar Hat employs multiple knitting techniques to create its finished structure. The pattern begins with working flat on straight needles to create the decorative cable border band. This flat-worked section is then seamed together by joining the cast-on edge to the bind-off edge, creating a continuous band. Once the brim is complete, stitches are picked up and worked in the round using circular needles to knit the crown of the hat. The transition from flat to circular knitting allows for both the detailed cable work at the brim and efficient construction of the hat body.

The pattern incorporates several key stitches to achieve its design. Stockinette stitch forms the main body of the hat, created by knitting every round for a smooth, classic finish.
