Product Description
Shibui Knits Avenue V-Neck Pullover
What is Being Made
The Avenue is a refined v-neck pullover sweater designed by Shellie Anderson, featuring three-quarter length sleeves and ribbed detailing throughout. This intermediate-level knitting project creates a sophisticated layering piece available in seven size options ranging from XS to XXL, with finished bust circumferences from 36 to 52 inches. The pullover is engineered to provide comfortable ease and elegant drape suitable for everyday wear and professional settings.
Construction Technique
Avenue is worked flat from the bottom up using a seamed construction method. The body is knitted flat on straight needles, beginning at the lower edge and progressing upward to the shoulders. The three-quarter length sleeves are worked separately in the same flat method, knitted from the cuff upward, then set into the armholes and seamed to the body. This construction approach allows for precise shaping and ease of customization during the knitting process.
Stitches and Stitch Techniques
The pattern employs stockinette stitch as the primary fabric structure, creating a smooth, refined surface that showcases the luxurious yarn blend. Ribbed details provide textural contrast and functional shaping at the neckline, cuffs, and hem, offering structure and recovery to the garment. The pattern instructions reference garter stitch ridges (GSR) and decreasing techniques including double stitches together, which are used strategically for shaping the armholes, neckline, and shoulder seams. A 3-needle bind-off technique is specified for finishing the shoulder seams, creating a strong, professional closure.
Gauge and Sizing
The pattern is worked to a gauge of 14 stitches and 22 rows over 4 inches in stockinette stitch after blocking. This gauge is achieved using size 10.5 needles with the yarn held as specified. Seven distinct sizes accommodate bust measurements from 32.5 inches to 48.5 inches, with finished dimensions providing 1 to 3.5 inches of positive ease depending on size selection. Back length measurements range from 21.25 to 23 inches from shoulder to hem.
Materials and Yarn
Avenue combines two premium Shibui Knits yarns held together as a single strand throughout the project. Shibui Knits Drift is a luxurious blend of 85% extra fine merino wool and 15% cashmere, offered at 110 yards per 50-gram skein. Shibui Knits Silk Cloud is a delicate yarn composed of 60% kid mohair and 40% silk, with 330 yards per 25-gram skein. This combination creates an exceptionally soft, touchable fabric with beautiful drape and subtle sheen. Yardage requirements vary by size: the body requires 7 to 10 skeins of Drift, while Silk Cloud requires 3 to 4 skeins across all sizes. The pattern is shown in the Graphite colorway.
