Needles: Scarf- US 6 (4mm) straight needles and 32" or longer circular for color accent
Hat- US 3 (3.25mm) 16" circular needle; US 4 (3.5mm) 16" circular needle and a set of dpns
Gauge: Scarf- 21 sts and 30 rows = 4" in stockinette stitch  
Hat- 25 sts and 32 rnds = 4" in stockinette stitch on larger needles
