What is Being Made

The finished garment features actual chest measurements from 98.5 cm (38¾ inches) up to 178.5 cm (70¼ inches), accommodating a wide range of body sizes. This is a bottom-up construction garment with sleeves worked in the round to the armholes before being joined to the body for yoke shaping.

Construction Techniques

The Sigrid Sweater employs a sophisticated bottom-up knitting method with seamless in-the-round construction. The body is cast on and worked circularly from the hem upward to the armholes. Sleeves are independently worked in the round using double-pointed needles, then joined to the body where yoke shaping is completed in the round. This technique eliminates seaming and creates a smooth, professional finish. The pattern begins with ribbed edging at the hem, which is worked for 8 centimeters before transitioning to stockinette stitch on larger needles.

Stitches and Stitch Patterns Used

Yarn and Materials

The Sigrid Sweater is designed to be worked with two distinct yarns held together throughout construction. Yarn A is Alpaca Haze in the colorway Peony 017, a luxury fiber available in 25-gram balls. Quantities range from 8 balls for the smallest size to 15 balls for the largest size. Yarn B is Cotton DK in Bubblegum 017, supplied in 50-gram balls in the same quantity range as Yarn A. The pattern specifies holding 2 strands of Alpaca Haze and 1 strand of Cotton DK together throughout, creating a blended yarn that combines the softness and warmth of alpaca with the breathability and structure of cotton.

Needles and Gauge
