What is Being Made

Techniques Used

This pattern employs two primary construction techniques:

• Worked Flat: The shawl is knitted back and forth on straight needles rather than in the round, allowing for a linear construction method ideal for rectangular wraps.
• Short Row Shaping: The pattern uses the wrap and turn (W&T) technique to create gradual shaping without increasing or decreasing stitches. This method involves slipping stitches and wrapping yarn around them before turning the work, then knitting wraps together with wrapped stitches on subsequent rows to prevent holes. This advanced shaping technique creates subtle contours and helps the shawl drape beautifully.
• Stripe Pattern: The design incorporates color changes throughout, with sections worked in different yarn colors to create visual interest and dimension.

The Bleecker Shawl is knitted with Stacy Charles Fine Yarns LIA, a blend of 41% cotton, 27% linen, and 32% polyester metallic. This fiber composition creates a lightweight yet durable fabric with subtle sheen from the metallic content, making it suitable for year-round wear.

The pattern calls for 2 balls each of six coordinating colors:
