Fibre Company Road to China Light is an incredibly soft blend of baby alpaca, cashmere, camel, and silk. The silk adds the slightest hint of luster to the yarn and the colors are incredible. You'll love working with this sportweight yarn. Made in Peru.

I bought this yarn in 3 colors: pearl grey, abalone, and sapphire. The first two knit up great. My hands turned blue quickly while knitting with sapphire. I would not recommend that color or any of their deeper colors because of that. I returned that color to WEBS.

The yarn is super squishy and soft but so are many others. I don't mind dyes bleeding a bit when washed but not while I am knitting. Until the company improves their dye process, I will buy other yarns.

Comments about 18.00 Road to China Light:

I'm really delighted with this yarn. It's much nicer than I'd expected. It's very soft and yummy, which probably means it will pill a bit, but it's worth it. The colors have depth to them, but they are not variegated. I have yet to knit with it, but I'm sure I'll be pleased.

A bit splitty, but ever so soft. It has all the characteristics of a high quality alpaca, but also the lack of give of alpaca.

Comments about 18.00 Road to China Light:

I originally got this yarn in a shawl kit, and I very quickly fell in love with it! It does tend to shed, especially when you are working on it, but the practical upside to this is that it makes a really, really gorgeous halo! The finished product is soft, smooth, and beautiful! When I decided I wanted (needed) more, I was very delighted to find that the cost is very reasonable, and the colorways are absolutely gorgeous! This is one that I would definitely recommend to an intermediate or expert knitter. It would not be my first choice for beginners because it does split and shed, I would suggest something more tightly wound. And I would not use it for socks, because it seems like it would wear a hole very quickly if you wore in on your feet. But for a special shawl, sweater, or scarf, particularly one you want that stunning softness and subtle halo effect, this is a must buy yarn!!

Comments about 18.00 Road to China Light:

I have used this sumptuous yarn in the past in a different color. The dying of the Amertine color is so subtle and all the different hues of the light grayish lilac colors really come out in the light and knitting. I used polished metal circular knitting needles, US #4, with great results. There is very little splitting, NO knots, and very nice stitch definition. This yarn has made a lovely set of fingerless mittens and cowl for a friend's birthday (used about 1 ⅔ skeins). I will definitely consider buying this yarn again!

This is the most delicious yarn I've found in quite awhile, and very versatile. I'm making a Melanie Berg shawl, Ashburn, with this yarn, and it knits like a dream. It's soft and drapes beautifully. Using US6 x 24 inches and the stitches are flawless. I would highly recommend this for a future shawl project!

I am using this yarn to make a striped cowl so I bought several skeins. It is a lovely soft yarn and I am enjoying knitting with it. The colors are rich; my only complaint is that some of the color ends up on my fingers as I knit

Comments about 18.00 Road to China Light:

This yarn was specifically identified for a knitting project/class. The colors were a little different from what I expected, based on the photographs, but still work well together for the pattern. Very soft, and very easy to work with. A few people in the class commented that it split a lot, but I didn't have any trouble with that. The ones who complained were throwers, rather than continental knitters, which may explain the splitting problem.
