What is Being Made

Glint is a sophisticated lace capelet designed as a seamless, top-down knit garment. This elegant piece features a fitted neckline that gradually expands into a generous circular silhouette, creating a flattering layering piece perfect for adding dimension and style to any outfit. The capelet measures approximately 25 inches around the neck and 92 inches at the hem, with a radius of about 15 inches, making it a substantial and dramatic accessory.

Construction and Techniques

This capelet is constructed using a top-down, seamless approach, worked in a single continuous piece from the neck downward. The garment is worked flat rather than in the round, requiring the knitter to turn at the end of each row. The design incorporates strategic increases every 8th row through Row 76, allowing the fabric to expand smoothly from the fitted neckline to the expansive hem. The lace pattern is charted in detail, with the chart showing every row of the design. Right-side rows are read from right to left, while wrong-side rows are read from left to right, with only some wrong-side rows serving as resting rows without pattern stitches.

The pattern offers excellent adaptability for customization. Additional lace repeats can be added or omitted to adjust the neck circumference by approximately 1¾ inches per repeat. For a slightly smaller neckline, decreases can be incorporated into the finishing crochet edging to provide additional shaping and stability.

• Circular Needle: Size 6 US (4 mm), 60 inches (150 cm) long or longer. The long length accommodates the increasing stitch count as the capelet expands from neck to hem.
• Crochet Hook: Size G US (4 mm) for working the stabilizing single crochet edging around the neckline
