Acacia Tabard Vest by Adrienne Larsen

What is Being Made: Acacia is a tabard vest designed to be worn with 5–6 inches of ease. The garment features a distinctive cowl neck and is available in six sizes ranging from 37½ inches to 57 inches in bust circumference when buttoned. The finished length varies between 27¼ inches and 30½ inches depending on size.

Construction and Techniques: This tabard vest is constructed using a bottom-up method, with the main body pieces worked flat. The cowl neck is created by picking up stitches and working them in the round. The design incorporates cable stitch patterns presented in chart form, with the Center Cable Chart repeated three times throughout the piece. Vertical buttonholes are worked into the front panels for closure.

Stitches and Stitch Patterns: The garment features garter stitch as a foundational element, worked for 2 inches from the cast-on edge. Cable charts provide the primary stitch pattern detail, creating visual interest across the front and back panels. Strategic increases are worked into the piece during the setup row to shape the garment appropriately.

Materials: Acacia requires 8 to 13 balls of Lana Grossa Landlust Merino 180, depending on the finished size. This yarn is 100% Merino Wool Superwash, offering 198 yards per 1¾ ounce ball. Construction requires a Size 9 US (5.5 mm) circular needle in 32–60 inches length depending on bust size, and a Size 8 US (5 mm) circular needle at 16 inches for the cowl neck. The suggested colorway is #205 Taupe.

Additional Designs in the Collection

Beyond Acacia, this eBook includes nine additional patterns: Caspia, Cedar Hill, Dancing Meadow, Glenevin, Maidstone, Ostraka, Parallax, Passerine, and Peryton. These designs collectively showcase various knitting techniques including lace, stranded colorwork, seamless construction, and seamed assembly methods. Projects are worked using both top-down and bottom-up approaches, as well as worked flat and worked in the round methods, providing knitters with exposure to multiple construction approaches within a single collection.

The diversity of garment types—from fitted cardigans and sweaters to accessories like cowls, scarves, shawls, and mittens—ensures that knitters of various preferences and experience levels can find suitable projects. Whether seeking intricate lace patterns, traditional cable work, or colorwork techniques, this Twist Collective eBook delivers comprehensive knitting instruction across multiple garment categories.
