Design Inspiration & Construction

Designer Lara Neel drew inspiration from vintage ski-sweater photographs, incorporating a charming colorwork element that transitions into the signature Two to One pattern. Both accessories begin with a small amount of ribbing to prevent curling at the edges, ensuring a polished, professional finish. The cowl concludes with additional ribbing worked in the secondary color for added structure and visual definition.

The Two to One Colorwork Technique

The signature pattern employs a deceptively simple yet striking two-color motif that repeats over a multiple of 3 stitches. Each round alternates between knitting two stitches in one color paired with a single stitch in the contrasting color, creating a rhythmic visual pattern. The eight-round repeat cycles through color combinations, with rounds alternating between K2 A, K1 B and K1 B, K2 A sequences, then progressing to K2 B, K1 A and K1 A, K2 B combinations. This structured approach allows the pattern to work up quickly while delivering sophisticated results.
