Show off your weaving skills when you’re on the town with this sophisticated envelope-style purse that is a breeze to make and sew! Valley Yarns’ “Night on the Town” cleverly transforms a piece of square overshot handwoven fabric into a contemporary bag that is the perfect size for your phone, keys, and other small essentials. The 5/2 Bamboo pattern weft gives the bag a gorgeous sheen and polished finish that will surely turn heads.

Equipment: 8-shaft loom at least 16” wide, 2 bobbins, 2 shuttles, temple
Sewing Notions: Black sewing thread, 13” x 13” black cotton fabric for lining, usual sewing supplies. The following items were used in our sample but use different brands if desired: ½ yard Pellon 987F fusible fleece, ½ yard Pellon SF101 fusible interfacing (black), Dritz Frog Closure, approx. 1½ yards black twisted cord, 4” of ¼” Dritz Stitch Witchery.
Warp Yarn: 474 yards Valley Yarns Valley Cotton 10/2 (100% Cotton; 4200yds/lb cone) shown in 8990 Black
Weft Yarn:
    113 yards Valley Yarns Valley Cotton 10/2 (100% Cotton; 4200yds/lb cone) shown in 8990 Black
    104 yards Valley Yarns 5/2 Bamboo (100% Rayon from Bamboo; 2100 yards/pound on 1¼ lb cones) shown in Orchid
Warp Length: 1⅔ yards of 285 ends (includes 2 floating selvedges and room to sample)
Sett: 22½ epi (1-2 in a 15-dent reed), 45 overall ppi (22½ pattern, 22½ tabby)
Finished Dimensions: 7⅝” square
