Weaving Structure and Techniques
This project utilizes a spot weave on a point twill treadling structure to create the characteristic gingham pattern. The design employs a classic striping technique achieved through alternating colors in both the warp and weft yarns. The weaving draft (#258) requires a 4-shaft loom with a minimum weaving width of 34 inches, and the pattern is threaded following a specific threading draft centered for a weaving width of approximately 31.5 inches.
The apron construction begins with a neck band section (the first 53 picks of the treadling) that is separated from the main apron cloth by plain weave. The total woven length is approximately 38 inches, combining both the neck band and apron body in one continuous piece.

Loom Setup and Technical Specifications
The warp for this project consists of 569 ends (including 2 floating selvedges) at a length of 2 yards. The sett is 18 ends per inch (epi), threaded 1-2 per dent in a 12-dent reed, with a width in reed of approximately 31.5 inches. The weft is beaten at 15-16 picks per inch (ppi), creating a balanced fabric suitable for an apron that will endure regular use and washing.
