Product Details
Light and airy, Valley Yarns Southampton is a plush and super-soft blend of mohair and silk with a fabulous halo! Southampton can be worked at multiple gauges and with one to three strands, for fabrics ranging from lacy and open to more substantial. Even lacy shawls are warm when made in this yarn, which comes in spectacular solid colors that seem to glow. Southampton also works well held with another yarn to add extra softness and luxury to projects from cowls and wraps to cardigans and pullovers!

I’ve used this yarn before and it produces a lovely result on its own or paired with other yarns. I paired this with a tweed yarn I bought earlier from Web’s to produce a halo effect and to soften the tweed. I designed a gorgeous but very delicate asymmetrical poncho with Southampton yarn, various color stripes and a beret with the leftovers as well as an ethereal sweater. It also made a beautiful scarf from a California designer as well. I love the warmth of mohair and wish Web’s would produce one in a worsted weight. There is no sweater so warm as one with a pairing of mohair and wool yarns, both in worsted weight. The worsted weight mohair acts almost like down in a jacket. Also, a slubby worsted or bulky weight mohair novelty would make a lovely inclusion for weaving like they used to do in high end fabrics of the early 1960s.
I’ve got the pattern and the yarn but haven’t had time to begin.
Love this mohair yarn👍
Nice to work with, and a good value.
Purchased lovely coordinating colors for a project at a great sale price. Received quickly and well packaged. Couldn't ask for more.
I knit scarves and the yarn is soft but holds it shape well.
Super soft and gorgeous yarn! I am knitting a raglan sweater, love, love, love it.
my experience with Webs yarn store is altogether enjoyable. Thank you. I knit constantly- with yarn from Webs and with Lopi, our Icelandic yarn. Knitting life is good- and I am 92 years old! Bryndís
I love this brand, the colors and softness. For now it’s in my stash but I do intend to knit with it. Very lovely yarn.
Great mohair at a reasonable price. I have added various colors to stash to carry with yarn for projects. I would recommend.
