Bought 15 additional skeins of this yarn

I made the Fiddlehead Set pattern and had so many complements and requests that I ordered 15 additional skeins to make hats and mitts for Christmas gifts.

I am a veteran knitter. I know my yarns. This is not worsted weight. Sorry. I also ordered a DK weight at the same time which was actually THICKER than this "worsted weight" yarn. When I returned with my comment I got the response that "it does knit up with a stitch gauge of 5 stitches per inch on US 5-7 needle, which is the typical gauge for a worsted weight yarn." Sure, maybe if your tension is that of a toddler....

    Comments about 5.39 Southwick:

All in all wonderful to work with - my only complaint is that it sometimes will split. I wish it came in 100 g balls instead of 50 because I used black yarn and you can see the weaving of the ends of the yarn.

      Comments about 5.39 Southwick:

I was happy with this yarn until I blocked the striped baby blanket I made. The African Violet color bled. I was not expecting that to happen. The yarn has a nice drape but I won't buy it again.

Dr soft, very nice yarn, and a great value. My only complaint is there seem to be more tie on knots than in other brands of similar yarn. On the other hand, it. It's less than the other.

I'm using this for a sweater (for a wool-phobic sister). It works up easily & looks great, but I'm a little concerned that is might not hold the weight of the sweater over time. We'll see!
