We've seen 8/2 Tencel hand-dyed into a beautiful variegated product and wondered why we couldn't do the same on a larger scale. Now we have! We are absolutely thrilled to introduce 12 lovely variegated colors into our line of Tencel. Made from the same top-quality, A100 8/2 Tencel as our solid colors are, we anticipate new colors being added. Manufactured in Canada and dyed in the USA. $1.50 per cone charge for wind-off service. Please see our FAQ page for more information about in-store wind-offs.

Note: Yarns sold by the pound may have their quantity adjusted before the order is sent to reflect the actual weight of what is being sent out. Cone weights may vary.

I've used the 8/2 tencel before to knit shawls. I love the feel and it holds up well to frogging. I'm a little disappointed with my recent purchase of the varigated Lake Combo. Based on the picture I was expecting colors more in the pastel range. Lake Combo is definitely more jewel toned and has a conciderable amount of green in it.

It had a lot of mill ends on this cone.

It was not suppose to be a mill end cone but there where a lot of ends to the cone.

I ordered three colorways of this yarn, and so far have used one in waffle weave 'spa' cloths. The yarn is a nice quality 8/2 and performed well.

I was nervous about using tencel, until I gave it a chance. I found my new favorite fiber! I loved everything about it. I thought it was easier to work with than cotton. I did have a fray, but it was easy to fix.

Comments about Yarn > Weaving Yarn Variegated 8/2 Tencel:

I use Tencel for lace and shadow weave scarves. I combine the variegated tencel with the solid Tencel colors for a palette that looks more complicated than it really is. The Tencel beams with no snagging or broken threads and the scarves have a beautiful, silky finish.

Comments about Yarn > Weaving Yarn Variegated 8/2 Tencel:

This is a beautiful variegated yarn, soft like all tencel. I found it broke easily on the edge of my weaving, but the color and texture make the extra time worth while. Like all tencel, I believe it takes toxic materials to process, unlike Bamboo, which is a similar yarn and weight.

I haven't put this on the loom yet but the colors are wonderful and I have heard from other members of my guild that it is very similar to weaving with cotton. I haven't done anything in Tencel yet but I am going to do a project very soon. I was drawn to the yarn because it is a new fiber for me and the colors were wonderful.

Comments about Yarn > Weaving Yarn Variegated 8/2 Tencel:

I'm just finishing a half-hexagon beaded lace wrap using the "Fire" colorway. The fiber is so smooth in my hands and glides on the needles, very little twisting on circulars. Attention must be paid to the slippery nature of the fiber. My sister has christened the piece already - Madam Pele - after the Hawaiian goddess of the volcano. The intensity of the fire colors gives a sense of warmth without the weight.
