What Is Being Made

My Tuscan Knit is a striped knit sweater designed by Kennita Tully. This garment is available in seven sizes ranging from XS to 3X, with finished chest measurements from 37.5 inches to 61 inches and finished lengths from 21.75 inches to 27.75 inches. The sample shown is knit in size S. The sweater features a classic pullover construction with set-in armholes and a tailored fit suitable for everyday wear.

Techniques Used

My Tuscan Knit is constructed using a bottom-up knitting method, meaning the sweater is worked from the lower edge upward. The garment is seamed, with individual pieces knit flat and then sewn together for assembly. The design incorporates stripes as a primary design element, created by changing yarn colors in a repeating sequence throughout the body and trim sections. All pieces are worked flat on straight needles rather than in the round, allowing for straightforward color changes and pattern management.

The pattern includes strategic shaping through decreases and increases. Decreases are worked symmetrically at the beginning and end of right-side rows using slip-stitch decreases (ssk at the row beginning, k2tog at the row end), positioned two stitches in from the edges. One ball of #08 olive (D) is needed for all sizes. Each ball contains 250 yards and weighs 50 grams.
