Product Description

Band weaving is an ancient art, originally done with a small floating heddle with the warp tied to your belt and the other end tied to a sturdy object, such as a tree (backstrap weaving). Many cultures used woven bands for garment closure, decorative accents and stocking garters. You can use them for clothing accents, purse straps, book marks, dog leads, tote bag handles, guitar straps, belts, wedding “hand fasting” bands and more.

Inkle looms or card weaving techniques create complex designs, but quite a lot can be done on a rigid heddle loom. This class explores both the designing and weaving of bands. Students begin by coloring in their own designs on provided charts, then thread up and weave 60” bands.

This is not a beginner class and students must be able to thread their looms independently.

For the comfort and safety of our students and teachers, students may be asked to wear a mask during in person classes and workshops, and masks are available upon request.
